For example, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that the Blue Jays met with the representation for New York Mets star closer Edwin Díaz. Also, it was reported earlier in the week that the Blue Jays had interest in Atlanta Braves reliever Raisel Iglesias.
The latter, however, won’t happen. The 35-year-old Iglesias reportedly inked a one-year deal on Wednesday to return to the Braves.
After the deal broke between the Braves and Iglesias, reports started to pop up about other teams that were interested in him. Toronto, unsurprisingly, was mentioned. But, there were conflicting reports. Beisbolfr.com’s Francys Romero reported that both the Blue Jays and Dodgers offered Iglesias deals worth $16 million.
“Per sources, Raisel Iglesias received offers from the Dodgers and Blue Jays worth around $16 million, but ultimately chose to return to the Braves,” Romero wrote on X.
Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith quickly shut down the idea of there being any offer on the table, though.
“Heard per sources that Blue Jays talked to Raisel Iglesias before he signed with Atlanta, expressing some interest. Jays didn’t make an offer,” Nicholson-Smith wrote.
Iglesias would’ve been a solid pickup for Toronto after logging a 3.21 ERA in 70 appearances in 2025, but he’s returning to Atlanta, and there reportedly wasn’t an offer from Toronto, despite interest.
