BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Former Virginia Tech basketball player and alumnus Elizabeth Kitley has been introduced as assistant to head coach Megan Duffy, external operations, according to the athletic department.

The athletic office said Kitley will work with the coaching staff and General Manager Stephen Fishler on key strategic initiatives, such as community outreach, fundraising, NIL (Name, image and likeness) efforts.
She will also be involved in women’s basketball home event broadcasting with the Virginia Tech Sports Network radio and ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) teams, said the athletic department.
Kitley will also serve as a mentor, role model, and assist with student athletes on and off the court. She will also be involved in developing athletes’ personal brand and help with NIL opportunities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Virginia Tech legend Liz Kitley to our staff,” exclaimed Coach Duffy.
“Liz is one of the most recognizable faces in the region. While we are so proud of her illustrious playing career, we now get to feel her presence in our community outreach, donor and NIL efforts. She will serve as a tremendous role model for our student-athletes on and off the court. We’re excited to have her back to help the Hokies, while she also prepares for the next steps with professional basketball.”
Kitley’s accolades include being an All-American, she’s a three-time ACC Player of the Year, a four-time All-ACC First Team selection, a three-time ACC All-Defensive Team honoree, and a finalist for both the Wade Trophy and Lisa Leslie Award in 2024. She also holds 13 school records with the Hokies lady’s basketball program.

Kitley also had stints in the WNBA for the Golden State Valkyries and Las Vegas Aces.
