The Los Angeles Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series championships, and it seems like they’re only getting started. The front office is seemingly going to dive into free agency and the trade market to upgrade their roster in a huge way ahead of next year.
There’s a chance the Dodgers make a splash for the biggest free agent on the market, Kyle Tucker, but they could be targeting a few other stars, too.
ClutchPoints’ Bailey Bassett recently projected star Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami would sign a huge four-year, $75 million deal and suggested the Dodgers would be the best landing spot for the star.
“The Los Angeles Dodgers have become a hub for Japanese superstars,” Bassett wrote. “Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto have won the last two World Series MVP awards with the team. Los Angeles should continue with their philosophy and sign Munetka Murakami this offseason. Murakami would be more of a swing-for-the-fences signing than the aforementioned players, but he has star potential because of his power.
“The Dodgers have spent a lot of money on free agents in recent years. They likely won’t stop now, and it would be smart to add a bat after prioritizing pitching depth in recent years. Murakami could replace Max Muncy at third base and eventually Freddie Freeman at first.”
The Dodgers could be the favorites for the Japanese star because of their deep roots with multiple Japanese stars on their roster already.
Murakami would fit perfectly at third base for the Dodgers. A four-year deal like the one projected would fit perfectly. It wouldn’t lock the Dodgers in for seven or eight years, but it would give them an additional slugger at an affordable price for the next four seasons. The Dodgers can afford it, and the move would certainly make them better.
