Dodgers expected to make blockbuster $185M trade for two-time Cy Young to replace Clayton Kershaw, leaving fans in awe. lt

Dodgers predicted to spoil fans by trading for $185 million two-time Cy Young to replace Clayton Kershaw, could break baseball originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just completed one of the hardest things in baseball: getting back-to-back wins in the World Series. Now, if they want to create a dynasty, they’ll need to find someone to replace their future Hall-of-Famer, Clayton Kershaw.

Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes that replacement can be another future Hall-of-Famer and two-time Cy Young Jacob deGrom, who, if the Dodgers acquired, could literally break the game of baseball.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers struggled to field five healthy starters all season and that organization appears to possess a bottomless appetite for star talent. It’s right to be more than a little skeptical of L.A. actually pulling the trigger on a deal like this, especially if the front office still views Rōki Sasaki as a starter. But it’s always worth tossing the Dodgers into the mix, because with this front office, it is truly a “never say never” situation. Cycling between deGrom, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani and Tyler Glasnow would obviously appeal to fans of the spoiled two-time reigning champs,” Kline wrote.

This past season, deGrom posted a 12-8 record, a 2.97 ERA, 185 Ks, and a 0.921 WHIP over 172 innings pitched. He would be a major upgrade for the Dodgers over Kershaw and would cement the Dodgers as having the best rotation in the sport.

Combining deGrom with a four-time MVP in Ohtani, a World Series MVP and Cy Young runner-up in Yamamoto, a two-time Cy Young in Snell, and an All-Star in Glasnow would also legitimately be unfair. No team could face L.A. and think they have it easy facing a back-end of the rotation when all their pitchers are top tier.

The Dodgers probably won’t do this due to payroll and the fact that they still view Sasaki as a starter. However, like Kline said, never say never.
