Breaking: Analysts reveal one player in free agency whose next move could send shockwaves through the league. lt

The San Francisco Giants have kept their cards remarkably close to their chest during Buster Posey’s year-plus tenure. The Willy Adames signing a year ago was surprising, and the Rafael Devers trade was downright shocking.

On the surface, Posey and the ownership crew have been a little bit more open going into their second offseason. Posey has confirmed what we all could deduce — that pitching is the biggest priority in free agency — while also setting the stage for a mild offseason by publicly saying the team will be dependent on big years from their corps of unproven young pitchers, and internal improvements from Heliot Ramos, Jung Hoo Lee, and the less proven players who will jockey for positioning in right field. Greg Johnson has made sure you don’t dream too big, by publicly stating that the team doesn’t feel very comfortable with the idea of huge contracts for pitchers.

They’re preparing you for a mild-mannered offseason, and I’m inclined to take them at face value when they spell it out. But again: Posey has a knack for not revealing his true intentions. Perhaps there’s a trick up his sleeve.

So, with that said, here’s the question of the day: what is the one player you expect the Giants to add this offseason? If you had to bet your life on one player being acquired, whom would you choose?

For me, it’s Tyler Rogers. I don’t feel as confident about that as I did a few months ago, because there is a chance that the Giants are going to severely penny pinch, but I think everything makes sense for a Rogers return. The Giants need a reliever of his caliber, he won’t break the bank, they need someone consistent and reliable, and he would (presumably) love to return to the team he spent almost his entire career with.
