Enrique Bradfield Jr.’s Arizona Fall League stat line might not jump off the page at first glance – a .652 OPS doesn’t exactly scream “top prospect.” But if you stop there, you’re missing the real story. Because Bradfield’s value isn’t built on slugging alone – it’s built on getting on base, wreaking havoc when he gets there, and locking down center field like it’s second nature.

Let’s start with that on-base percentage: .341. That’s not just solid – it’s elite territory in today’s game.

Only 53 qualified big leaguers reached that mark in 2025, and that list doesn’t include names like Brent Rooker, Manny Machado, or Cody Bellinger. Bradfield’s ability to get on base consistently is what sets the table for the rest of his game – and once he’s on, he’s a problem.

He swiped 17 bags in just 20 Fall League games, turning walks and singles into scoring threats.

Defensively, he’s every bit as dynamic. With a .974 fielding percentage and 37 putouts, Bradfield didn’t just hold his own in center – he owned the position.

The highlight-reel catches were there, but so was the day-to-day consistency, and that combination earned him Defensive Player of the Year honors in the AFL. For a player whose game is built on speed, instincts, and contact, Bradfield is showing exactly the kind of profile that can translate up the ladder.

He’s not trying to be someone he’s not – he’s doubling down on what makes him unique.

He wasn’t the only Orioles prospect to make noise in Arizona. Left-hander Luis De León, currently ranked No. 21 in the system, brought his swing-and-miss arsenal to the desert and showed why scouts are intrigued by his upside.

In five starts, he posted a 2.76 ERA and struck out batters at a rate north of 12 per nine innings. That’s real stuff.

But the command? Still a work in progress.

De León walked 12 in 16 innings – a number that’ll have to come down if he’s going to stick as a starter. Still, limiting hitters to just 10 hits over that stretch speaks to how tough he can be to square up.

At 6-foot-3, with a live arm and a developing feel for his pitches, there’s plenty to dream on. After a brief stint in Double-A Chesapeake last season, expect him to return there to open 2026.

Behind the plate, Ethan Anderson made a strong impression as well. The switch-hitting catcher from Virginia slashed .300 with an on-base percentage just shy of .400 in his 19 Fall League games.

Power remains the missing piece – he only hit four homers in 90 games last season – but the bat-to-ball skills and plate discipline are trending in the right direction. In a system that’s deep at catcher, Anderson will need to keep separating himself if he wants to climb the ladder.

His Fall League performance is a good step in that direction.

Not every Orioles prospect found success in Arizona, though. Outfielder Thomas Sosa, just 20 years old, struggled to find his rhythm at the plate in his 13-game stint.

But context matters here – Sosa’s been facing older competition for most of his young career. In 2025 alone, he logged just 21 at-bats against pitchers younger than him, even as he reached Double-A.

The tools are still there, and time is on his side.

On the mound, the Orioles also got a look at four unranked arms, and a few of them made the most of the opportunity. Tanner Smith, acquired in the deal that sent Ryan O’Hearn and Ramón Laureano to San Diego, was a standout.

In seven relief appearances for Peoria, the 6-foot-6 righty racked up strikeouts at a blistering pace – 15.3 per nine innings – while posting a 3.52 ERA. He didn’t allow a run in four High-A outings last season, and he looks poised to open 2026 with Frederick.

The other three pitchers – Sayer Diederich, Carson Dorsey, and Brandon Downer – all showed flashes as well. Diederich, a late arrival to affiliated ball, impressed with a 2.35 ERA.

Dorsey, a 2024 seventh-round pick, showed versatility in multiple roles and finished with a 3.68 ERA. And Downer, taken in the 14th round last year, gave up just one run over nine innings.

All told, the Arizona Fall League gave the Orioles a lot to feel good about. Bradfield took home a trophy and reminded everyone why his speed-and-defense profile still matters in today’s game.

De León flashed high-octane stuff that could play in a big-league rotation if he can rein in the walks. Anderson showed growth at the plate, and Smith might be a bullpen piece worth watching.

Even those who didn’t light up the box score gained valuable reps against quality competition.

It’s just the Fall League, but for a system that’s already loaded with talent, this was another encouraging checkpoint. The pipeline keeps flowing – and a few more names just added themselves to the watch list.
