There are bound to be a lot of suitors for the star lefty this winter. Plenty of big market teams need to add pitching this winter, including the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets.
Sportsnaut’s Matt Johnson recently predicted Valdez would sign a huge deal with the Blue Jays in free agency.
“Shane Bieber helped the Blue Jays out this offseason, exercising his $16 million option to remain with the team. Even with our expectation that Bichette re-signs with the team, there remains some long-term financial flexibility to make one more big addition,” Johnson wrote. “That comes with Framber Valdez. Entering his age-32 season, the two-time All-Star selection gives Toronto an additional premium playoff starter to pair with Bieber, Kevin Gausman, and Trey Yesavage.”
The Blue Jays need to add some pitching alongside their top duo of Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber. Trey Yesavage should be a solid member of the rotation next year, but adding Valdez at the top of the staff would be a huge move.
The Blue Jays can afford to take a shot like this after their World Series loss last season. Toronto needs to make a huge move, and something along these lines would work perfectly.
