Blue Jays receive key update on Bo Bichette just as Kyle Tucker trade talks heat up. lt

he Toronto Blue Jays appear to be going all-in this season.

Toronto has already signed Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal to bolster the rotation. Then, the Blue Jays signed Cody Ponce to a three-year, $30 million deal to add even more pitching depth to the roster.

However, Toronto still needs another bat, and top free agent Kyle Tucker visited the Blue Jays’ facility. Although many believe that if Toronto signs Tucker, it rules out the team re-signing Bichette, MLB insider Jon Heyman disagrees.

Instead, Heyman thinks Bichette is likely to return to Toronto, and the Blue Jays could land both Bichette and Tucker.

“To me, that is the team for him, as well,” Heyman said on Bleacher Report on Thursday. “Could they do both? They tried for Ohtani, they tried for Soto, and they offered $600 million plus for Soto.

“Bichette and Tucker, I don’t know if they will add up to $600 million between them; I doubt it. Possible. If Tucker gets over $400 million and Bichette gets close to $200 million, there is the $600 million that was going to Soto. They were willing to do Soto and Vlad Guerrero Jr.”

Adding Bichette and Tucker would make the Blue Jays one of, if not the, World Series favorite going into 2026. Toronto would have one of the top lineups in baseball, while its payroll would also be one of the highest.

Blue Jays Considered Favorites for Tucker

Tucker is the top free agent available, and Toronto is one of the front-runners for him.

The only visit that has been reported is to the Blue Jays, so perhaps Toronto is the favorite for him. The Blue Jays are going all-in this offseason, and MLB insider Jon Morosi believes there’s a legit chance Toronto will sign Tucker.

“I think there is a legitimate possibility for Kyle Tucker and the Toronto Blue Jays,” Morosi said on Thursday. “One of the reasons, by the way, it’s just a 23-mile drive from Plant High School in the great city of Tampa, Florida, to the Blue Jays spring training complex in Dunedin.

“For Kyle Tucker, that’s just around the block. This is his hometown, and you could see how the fit would be a good one. You have the reigning American League Champions, the team that is clearly committed to winning.”

Tucker hit .266 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs last season, but he dealt with injuries. He’s a four-time All-Star and would add a major bat to the Blue Jays’ lineup.

Toronto Wants to Bichette Back

Bichette has been a key part of the Blue Jays’ roster for years, and the team wants to bring him back.

The star infielder has some question marks surrounding his position as he could move to second base or third base from shortstop. Yet, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said the team will be in Bichette’s market.

“Great player,” Atkins said of Bichette at the GM meetings. “Bo’s been a significant part of us being in a strong position today and a reason that we’re coming off five solid seasons of baseball and one really, really good year of baseball. He’s had a lot to do with it. I know he’s going to be attractive to the market. We’ll be in his market.”

Bichette, meanwhile, said after Game 7 that he wants to be back in Toronto.

“I’ve said I want to be here from the beginning,” Bichette said.

Bichette is a two-time All-Star.
