Houston Astros owner Jim Crane is usually seen in public donning a suit or sports jacket-a wardrobe befitting an individual of his wealth and power.
But even a well-moneyed man like Crane has to let loose every now and then. And he did just that Saturday night.
Crane was filmed by Apollo Media’s Collin Copier onstage with rapper Flo Rida on Saturday during the Astros’ annual Diamond Dreams Gala. Now in its 10th year, the Diamond Dreams Gala is a major fundraising effort for the Astros Foundation, which partnered Saturday with the Salvation Army.
Individual tickets for the gala ran attendees at least $1,000. Leading donors contributed $100,000 per ticket Saturday, which granted invitation to a Meet-and-Greet reception with Crane, Astros players, coaches and, of course, Flo Rida himself. It’s unclear whether the top donors were allowed to join Flo Rida onstage for his raucous performance. One individual who was? Crane himself, who marked the appearance with a pair of sunglasses and a diamond-studded jacket with Flo Rida’s logo.
Crane can party with rappers and other celebrities to his heart’s content each November at the Astros’ annual gala. Will those celebrations ever again follow October glory on the Diamond? The Astros enjoyed a Golden Era across the last decade, in which Crane’s club notched two world championships, four American League pennants and seven division crowns. The dominance came to a halt in 2025, when a wave of injuries derailed Houston’s season en route to a second-place finish in the American League West.

The Astros are expected to be over .500 again in 2026. Compete for a championship? That’s anything but a guarantee.
Crane can concern himself with the state of his baseball team at a later date. On Sunday, more pressing matters awaited. Crane, given the social media content, likely needed a coffee and an Advil early Sunday morning, the surest sign of a solid, Flo Rida-inspired night.
