GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – WNBA superstar Jonquel Jones was back in her home town, Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama, for a free, two-day basketball clinic.
The camp aimed to inspire, empower, and develop the next generation of Bahamian girls from primary to high school.
Primary and middle school girls were the focus on Thursday, following high school girls participation Friday.
The camp featured top level instruction from Jones and high-level coaches from the WNBA and the NBA.

The retooled Bahamas Women’s team ran roughshod over Jamaica in the Women’s Caribbean Basketball Championship in Guyana last night, logging a big time 88-56 win, their 2nd straight win of the tourney.
Things were looking iffy in the early going, with The Bahamas barely getting out of the first quarter with a 23-20 lead.
The Bahamas took off in the second quarter, building their lead to 13 points, never looking back.

Valicia Demeritte led the squad in scoring, she had 25 points and 4 rebounds.
Valerie Nesbitt logged a triple-double dropping 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Lashann Higgs had 23.
Bahamians also got after it in the association.

Deandre Ayton and the Lakers easily vanquished the New Orleans Pelicans 118-104.
The big man had 20 points and was big on the boards, pulling down 16 rebounds in the win.
VJ Edgecombe had 18 points and 7 rebounds as his Philadelphia 76ers lost 114-105 to the Detroit Pistons.
Buddy Hield played less than a minute and missed his only shot as his Golden State Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs 109-108 behind 49 points, and some last-minute heroics from Steph Curry.
Klay Thompson came off the bench for 13 in his Dallas Mavericks’ 133-127 loss to the LA Clippers.
