“We have been dreaming of this moment for a long time, and it’s better than we could have ever imagined!” the couple told People.

Vandersloot, 36, played for the Sky from 2011 to ’22 to begin her career, and Quigley, 38, was there for the majority of that time. While Quigley has been out of the WNBA since 2022, Vandersloot played two years for the Liberty before returning this year as a free agent.WNBA's Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley welcome baby

The two were on the Sky’s 2021 championship team and have made a combined eight All-Star teams.

They met while playing in Slovakia in 2013 and shortly ended up on the Sky together when Quigley signed as a free agent. Quigley grew up in Joliet and played at DePaul from 2004 to ’08 before the Mercury drafted her in the second round. The Sky drafted Vandersloot, from the Seattle suburbs, out of Gonzaga with the No. 3 overall pick in 2011.

Vandersloot is one of the most accomplished players in league history. She has averaged 10 points, 6.6 assists and 1.2 steals over her career and finished in the top 10 in MVP voting four times.

Vandersloot is going into her 15th season and will be a Sky starter going into this season, which begins Saturday at the Fever. She sat out the team’s preseason finale against the Lynx on Saturday because of a rib injury, but coach Tyler Marsh said it was not a concern going forward.
