💥 BREAKING NEWS: Blue Jays Lock Down Elite 1.98 ERA Reliever on $37M Deal to Power Bullpen ⚡ lt

Tyler Rogers

The Toronto Blue Jays are having a great offseason to this point. With a clear focus on pitching staff depth, the reigning AL Pennant champs have found themselves back in the news this winter for another meaningful signing.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement with right-handed pitcher Tyler Rogers on a three-year, $37 million contract, which has a fourth-year built-in option. Rogers has been one of the most consistent relievers across MLB for the last several seasons, and spent his 2025 season with both the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets.

Blue Jays Pitching Staff Gets Another Boost

The Toronto Blue Jays have a really good problem to have in terms of pitching depth. Toronto’s front office has dished out nearly $300 million this offseason in contract money to pitchers. The Blue Jays signed Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $200 million+ deal to kick off the offseason, and then signed KBO MVP Cody Ponce to a multi-year deal.

Now they get one of the best set-up/long-relief options in Tyler Rogers.

In 2025, Rogers posted a 1.98 ERA in 81 total appearances and 77.1 innings. He has a funky submarine delivery to the plate that keeps hitters off balance. Rogers has an arsenal that doesn’t include a strong fastball, but rather several pitches with immense horizontal break. He’s led his respective division in games pitched four times throughout his career.

Yet another player the New York Mets missed out on signing. After being traded to the Mets at the trade deadline, Rogers posted a 2.30 ERA over 28 appearances. He only struck out 10 batters in that time frame, but he was one of the Mets’ more effective relievers down the stretch.

What Are Blue Jays Getting in Tyler Rogers

The Blue Jays are getting a reliable arm in Tyler Rogers, and he has proven that throughout his career. 2025 may have been his best season, but Rogers also posted a 2.22 ERA back in 2021 over 81 innings.

Moving on from Rogers made sense from the perspective of the Giants at the time they traded Rogers, because they were likely aware it would be hard to retain him in free agency.

Over seven career seasons, Rogers has a 2.76 ERA over 424 innings.

According to BaseballReference.com, the 34-year-old submariner is projected to post a 3.17 ERA over 71 innings in 2026, while striking out 54 batters.

Rogers joins a bullpen cast that already includes the likes of Jeff Hoffman, Yimi Garcia, Louis Varland, and Mason Fluharty. With all the recent transactions, the Blue Jays are flexing their muscles in the American League East by showing they fully intend to return to the Fall Classic next season.
