A surprising twist has emerged in Marcus Stroman’s offseason pursuit, catching analysts off guard.vt

Jul 24, 2019; Toronto, Ontario, CAN; Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Teoscar Hernandez (37) embraces starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (6) at the end of the seventh inning against the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre.

When Stroman was released by the Yankees not team ended up taking a chance at signing him due to all the problems he had in New York and he has been a free agent ever since.

However, Stroman could still be a bargain in the right scenario. If he signs with a team in a more spacious ballpark and a strong infield defense, he may still be an effective option in the back of a rotation. Stroman is unlikely to cost much on a one-year deal and may even be available on a minor league contract, where he would have to prove himself in spring training. At that price, it could be worthwhile to see if Stroman can rebound in 2026. -Hill

Stroman is expected to sign a one year deal for near to league minimum or maybe a bit above but might also be looked at only for a minor league deal.

This is quite the drop off for Stroman who signed a two year $37 million deal last off-season with the Yankees but unfortunately did not end up living up to the deal.

At the same time, Stroman might still be worth the risk for certain team as he is only two years removed from a solid season in which he finished with a 3.95 ERA in 136.2 innings pitched for the Chicago Cubs.

It will be interesting to see where Stroman ends up and on what kind of deal since most thought he would be forced into retirement this season.
