Following the most-watched WNBA regular season ever, Lady Vol standout Rickea Jackson has been named among the top rookie performers of 2024.
The Los Angeles Sparks forward joined WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Leonie Fiebich on the squad.
Jackson is only the third WNBA rookie ever and first since 2006 to score at least 400 points while shooting at least 45 percent from the field, 34 percent on three-pointers, and 80 percent from the free-throw line. The only other two rookies to do so, Cynthia Cooper and Seimone Augustus, went on to be inducted into both the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Basketball of Fame.
It is the second consecutive year that a Tennessee Lady Vol has been named to the All-Rookie squad after Jordan Horston earned the honor in 2023. The 6-foot-2 Tennessee product is the eighth Lady Vol to make an All-Rookie team.
The Detroit native was selected fourth overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, marking the first time in program history that Tennessee had first-round picks in four consecutive drafts. Jackson spent two years on Rocky Top after transferring from Mississippi State and wrote her name into the school’s all-time scoring charts despite playing just 60 games.
