The Toronto Blue Jays‘ 2025 season was one of the best in recent memory. Despite falling short of winning the World Series, it was the first time they made it to the World Series in over 30 years. And star pitcher Trey Yesavage helped get them there.

Yesavage made headlines during the postseason by breaking rookie pitching records. He also owns one of the most team-friendly contracts on the Blue Jays.

Yesavage announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Taylor Frick, via a joint Instagram post. The caption on the post reads, “11/13/25 – in this lifetime & the next, it will always be you.”

Although the exact start of their romantic relationship is unknown, it is known that they became an item in early October 2023. Frick shared an Instagram post when Yesavage made his MLB playoff debut, celebrating the couple’s two-year anniversary.

Frick graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Nutrition Sciences in May.

Trey Yesavage’s Big Season With the Blue Jays Organization

To say that 2025 was a big year for Yesavage is an understatement. He played 25 games in several minor leagues before making his MLB debut.

He spent time with all of the Dunedin Blue Jays (A), Vancouver Canadians (A+), New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA), and Buffalo Bisons (AAA). Yesavage finished the season with 22 starts, 160 strikeouts, a 0.97 WHIP, and a 3.12 ERA in 98 innings.

It was more of the same for him in the big leagues. In three regular season games, Yesavage threw 16 strikeouts, earned a 1.43 WHIP, and a 3.21 ERA, throwing for 14 innings.

He took things to another level in the postseason. Yesavage played in six games, throwing 38 strikeouts, earning a 1.05 WHIP, a 3.58 ERA, and one hold in 27 2/3 innings of work.

On October 29th, Yesavage made history by becoming the first pitcher to have 12 strikeouts with no walks in a World Series game. He also set a record for having the most strikeouts in a single match amongst rookie pitchers in a World Series game.

What the Future Holds for Trey Yesavage

Yesavage will earn $820,000 for the 2026 regular season. This represents a significant increase in pay compared to 2025.

Because of his late call-up and rookie contract, his salary should have been more than the $57 204 he earned. However, the rookie contract does not guarantee the player the money, hence the prorated amount he received.

Just Baseball has Yesavage as the sixth-ranked prospect in the MLB for 2026. He is the second-highest-ranked pitcher, behind Nolan McLean of the New York Mets.

Most baseball pundits have Yesavage pencilled into the Blue Jays’ starting rotation to kick off the 2026 season. With Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber being the only other guarantees, there is a big opportunity in front of the 22-year-old.

Because of this, it’s easy to see the Blue Jays being interested in one or more starting pitchers via free agency. Regardless of who is brought in, it’s clear from his 2025 performance that Yesavage will be an integral part of the organization moving forward.
