The Toronto Blue Jays have been active in free agency, signing Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers. However, some big questions remain. The biggest question mark surrounding the Blue Jays right now is the pursuit of Kyle Tucker. The superstar free agent has already reportedly visited their spring training facility, and could be their focus in free agency right now. However, Bichette is a fan favorite and played a huge role in the team’s success last season.
Both players have been linked to the Blue Jays, and Bichette has even noted he wants to stay in Toronto. However, the belief among insiders is that it will be tough for the Blue Jays to sign both. The Athletic’s Jim Bowden revealed on Wednesday that the Blue Jays will “likely” re-sign Bichette if they cannot sign Tucker.

“If the Blue Jays don’t sign Kyle Tucker, it is likely Bichette will return to Toronto,” Bowden wrote.
Tucker’s free agency may be holding up the market, given the Blue Jays’ interest. They have been the biggest spenders so far this winter, and what they do with Tucker could dictate where other players sign. Judging by what Bowden revealed, the Blue Jays are prioritizing Kyle Tucker’s free agency over re-signing Bichette.
Bichette is not expected to take a discount to stay in Toronto, but it is reportedly his top choice. Other teams like the Boston Red Sox have reported interest in him, but he may be willing to wait if there’s a chance at staying in Toronto.
