The Toronto Blue Jays, coming off a season in which they were so close to winning the World Series but fell just shy as they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers, find themselves in a spot where they have flexibility this offseason to propel them forward with becoming annual contenders.
They made a big move when they added to their pitching staff with signing Dylan Cease. With this signing, they now have their top ace to go with the rest of the rotation that features Cody Ponce, Trey Yesavage, Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, and Jose Berrios.
This deep of a rotation opens up the door for trade possibilities as the Blue Jays could look to advance the team in other areas. One trade candidate very well could be Jose Berrios, and if he is made available, the San Francisco Giants make sense to trade for him.

Toronto Blue Jays Trade Jose Berrios to the San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco Giants need to find a way to advance their team this offseason if they want to catch up in the National League West Division to the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.
As Buster Posey looks to continue to turn the team around, he will have the help of the Giants’ new manager in Tony Vitello, who used to play baseball at the college level. While Vitello was an outfielder, he still knows the importance of having a strong pitching rotation from his time playing as well as coaching the Tennessee Volunteers.

Last season, Justin Verlander was the most consistent pitcher the Giants had down the stretch of the season, and that just can’t be the case again. San Francisco needs more pitching depth, and trading for Jos Berrios provides them a solution. Berrios is coming off a 2025 season in which he had a 4.17 ERA with a 1.301 WHIP, and 138 strikeouts.
Jose Berrios isn’t an ace, but he can still provide a boost to a pitching rotation, and that is exactly what the Giants need as they have young pitchers in Logan Webb and Robbie Ray, but they need a veteran presence to help. Berrios perfectly fits that mold for the Giants to target him in a trade this offseason.
