CLEVELAND (WKBN) – Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Zak Kent was claimed off waivers by the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.
The 28-year-old made his Major League debut this past season with Cleveland.
He appeared in 12 games with the Guardians, posting a 1-0 record with a 4.58 ERA. In 17.2 innings, he piled up 16 strikeouts.
The right-hander was acquired by Cleveland in a minor trade with the Texas Rangers at the start of the 2024 season.
Kent is out of minor league options, so he will need to make the big-league roster out of Spring Training, or he will be exposed to waivers.
