It could still be a while until Kyle Schwarber’s free agency is complete.

That’s when happens when you hit 187 home runs in four years with the Philadelphia Phillies, including 56 in 2025. There are plenty of teams interested in procuring Schwarber’s services.

In a new article this weekend, though, MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki has given Phillies fans a reason to believe they’ll end up with Schwarber.

Picture backgroundHe laid out the case for Schwarber re-signing in Philadelphia, and it’s pretty strong:

“Schwarber is not only one of the game’s most dangerous sluggers, but he’s the heart and soul of the Phillies — one of the best leaders Philadelphia’s clubhouse has ever seen. He’s also a valued member of the community, regularly hosting charity events in the Delaware Valley. Simply put, Schwarber has been a tremendous fit in Philly, and he would love to finish business by bringing the franchise and city a World Series championship. The Phillies know all these things, of course, and they’ve made it clear they want him back. They have the financial wherewithal to make it happen, too.”

The main case against Schwarber in Philadelphia is the premise of needing to try something new. The Phillies have tried to win with their current core for a handful of years now, and although they’ve done well in the regular season, it hasn’t translated to the postseason.

Picture backgroundSchwarber is a limited player in some regards, mainly by only occupying the DH spot.

But he still hits the baseball a long, long way, and quite often.

Someone is going to pay Schwarber. The Phillies can certainly afford to do so if they want, especially if they can get someone to take Nick Castellanos’ contract off their hands in a trade.

There’s certainly a strong case for Schwarber sticking around and Philly paying him to do just that.
