Beloved Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Buck Martinez is very confident that Bo Bichette will be back in 2026 and beyond.
Despite the MLB offseason kicking off over a month ago, Bichette continues to weigh his options on the free-agent market. There has been interest from several other teams, including the LA Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox, but the 27-year-old has yet to make his decision.
Though things have played out slower than Blue Jays fans would have hoped, Martinez sounded very confident when speaking to MLB Network that the two-time All Star will return to Toronto.

“I know Bo wants to come back,” Martinez said. “He signed as a teenager with the Blue Jays… I know he wants to come back. The question is, does he want to play short, does he want to play second? I think he would play second base alongside Andres Gimenez.
“I think Bo at this point in his career would love to stay in Toronto, finish off his career with Vladdy Guerrero Jr., and be the second baseman going forward. I don’t have any inside information about that, but I would say it’s probably a strong eight [out of 10] that Bo ends up back in Toronto.”
As far as inside information is concerned, Bichette and his party are seemingly doing a great job of keeping things private. There isn’t a ton of new information out there, though it is clear that the Jays are continuing to show major interest.
“He’s running through his process,” Shi Davidi said on the FAN Morning Show. “The Blue Jays are staying engaged there. Bo knows that there is a certain level of interest with the Blue Jays. Will that line up, or will that line up with Kyle Tucker instead?”
For some time, it’s felt like this will come down to landing one or the other, as it’s rather unlikely to see ownership dish out money on both superstars. In fact, insider Jon Morosi said as much in a separate appearance Friday on MLB Network.

“If the Jays sign Kyle Tucker, the chances of Bo Bichette going back to Toronto are reduced further,” Morosi explained. “If you get whispers of Kyle Tucker moving closer to a deal with Toronto, that means Bo Bichette is going elsewhere.”
While players have been landing bigger deals than initially projected in free agency, Tucker is still believed to be seeking a deal worth roughly $400 million. Bichette, on the other hand, is expected to sign a deal closer to $200 million.
