Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink returned to the WNBA 13 months after tearing her ACL to face off against the Las Vegas Aces at Crypto.com Arena July 29.
“My defense has always been something I’ve leaned on,” she continued. “Just giving myself patience on offense, knowing that it’ll come eventually. But both will need some work.”
As she prepared to make her return to the court, Cameron’s support system was strong.
“It’s great to get in and get reps,” the basketball star explained to the outlet. “My teammates are super supportive, coaching me up. The coaches are super patient. I’m feeling great, just getting the reps that I need to feel comfortable.”
Although Cameron is feeling good now, she admitted that she wasn’t “super patient” while riding out her 13-month break from basketball.

Showing appreciation for her loved ones, she added, “It’s all the people in my corner that are helping so much with all of this. If I didn’t have my village, I’d be nowhere.”

Cameron Brink is on the brink of her comeback.
More than a year after the Los Angeles Sparks star tore her ACL during a June 2024 matchup against the Connecticut Sun, she marked her season two debut as she returned to the court to play against the Las Vegas Aces at Crypto.com Arena July 29.
Cameron was seen during warm-ups—clad in all-black athletic clothes and purple sneakers—dribbling the ball on the court before tip-off. Once she entered the game, her first play was a rebound and assist to Rickea Jackson, later ending her point drought with a three-pointer.
Ahead of her return, the 23-year-old reflected on how it feels to come back after the season-ending injury in her rookie WNBA season, which also kept her from competing in the 3×3 basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“It means the world,” Cameron told the Long Beach Press Telegram July 28. “I’m just very excited, very humbled by this experience. It’s no easy thing to come back from, so I’m just really excited.”
She also shared what part of her game she expects will shine more, given that she’ll have to get used to playing in the WNBA again.
