The 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup is approaching ahead of the September 2026 tournament and Angel Reese is one of many WNBA stars to have gotten an invite to Team USA’s first training camp.

Reese joined the likes of Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, JuJu Watkins and established veterans like Aaliyah Boston in preparing to make the team next year.
In a video for USA Basketball, Reese thanked everyone for the opportunity and said that she’s looking forward to winning the championship and a gold medal.
“I’m just really thankful to be able to be here with the best… I’m not going to take this moment for granted. I’m so thankful because a lot of people don’t have this moment. So I try to take a lot of things from other people, from communications, even just ball handling,” Reese said.
“Being able to see Aaliyah [Boston] post up and post deep, and being able to take those things and implement it within yourself. And I think it just goes to show the growth of the game and how we can just compete in the [WNBA], but then come back here, USA, and just be together and be here for one goal, and that’s the championship and to win gold medal.”

Debut in 2026?
Last year the wider basketball world was stunned to see that Caitlin Clark and Reese were snubbed from the Olympic team. While Team USA cruised to an eighth straight gold medal, fans were disappointed that Clark couldn’t even get a spot on the bench where she might help grow the game on an international level with her presence.
But 2026 could be the year that both Clark and Reese break through on the international level.
Both women have won tournaments at the Team USA youth level, but the FIBA World Cup would be a major showcase of their talents and serve as a pretty solid prep for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Team USA has won the last four FIBA Women’s World Cup tournaments and has already qualified for the 2026 tournament in Germany.
Will Reese and Clark play in the 2026 World Cup? Will they win a championship for the U.S.?
