The UConn Huskies secured their 12th National championship with a win over South Carolina at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on April 6, 2025. It was a perfect finale for some stars, like Paige Bueckers, while rising stars like Jana El Alfy were spotlighted.

After the game, El Alfy had an emotional and unforgettable moment when she received a FaceTime call from Nika Mühl, the WNBA rookie and former UConn player.

Jana El Alfy Is a Rising Star From Egypt

El Alfy is a 19-year-old basketball player from Cairo, Egypt. Her journey to this moment has been anything but conventional. Before her global recognition, she was a star at home. Before her invitation to the NBA global Academy in Australia, she earned MVP honors at the inaugural NBA Basketball event in Cairo.

In 2022, with options to sign for different top-tier programs, she chose to sign for the Huskies.
