Australian Ezi Magbegor anchored Seattle’s defense with three blocks as the Storm handed the Opals teammate Alanna Smith‘s Lynx their first loss of the season. Minnesota Lynx (9-1) fell to Seattle Storm (6-4) 94-84 at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday, June 13, 2025.

Magbegor was +11 in 31 minutes on a blister 6-from-8 from the field, tallying 13 points, eight rebounds to go with her three blocks while Smith was a tough -16 in 37 minutes. She was 6-from-10 from the field for 14 points as well as grabbing six boards, an assist and a steal.

The Storm established control early, jumping out to a 32-27 first-quarter lead behind Nneka Ogwumike’s efficient scoring. Minnesota responded in the second quarter, outscoring Seattle 22-16 to take a slim 49-48 advantage into halftime.

Seattle regained momentum in the third quarter with a 20-16 scoring edge, as Ezi Magbegor’s defensive presence began to disrupt Minnesota’s offensive flow. The Australian centre delivered three critical blocks throughout the contest, altering numerous other shots as well. The Storm then pulled away in the final frame, outscoring the Lynx 26-19 to secure the 10-point victory.

Erica Wheeler delivered a standout performance for Seattle, recording 20 points and nine assists. Her three three-pointers came at crucial moments, including a dagger from downtown with four minutes remaining that extended the Storm lead to double digits. Ogwumike added 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Gabby Williams contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a complete all-around effort.

For Minnesota, Collier’s 25 points weren’t enough to preserve their unbeaten record. Kayla McBride added 19 points on 5-from-11 shooting from beyond the arc, while Alanna Smith contributed 14 points and six rebounds in defeat. Despite shooting an efficient 48.4 per cent from the field and 46.2 per cent from three-point range, the Lynx couldn’t overcome Seattle’s balanced attack.

The Storm’s superior ball movement was evident in their 30 assists compared to Minnesota’s 25. Seattle also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lynx 34-26, including eight offensive rebounds that led to valuable second-chance opportunities. This victory improved Seattle’s record to 6-4, solidifying their fifth position in the WNBA standings, while Minnesota suffered their first loss of the season but remained atop the league at 9-1.
