Last night in New York City (Thursday, May 15), Swarovski’s Fifth Avenue flagship became the backdrop for an intimate and inspiring conversation spotlighting the power of women in sports and the magic of fashion-meets-function design.

Hosted in partnership with Jordan Brand, the event brought WNBA star Isabelle Harrison together with journalist Lindsay Peoples to mark the debut of the Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG adorned with Swarovski crystals. “The AJ1 continues to redefine brilliance and inspire self-expression as a timeless design that transcends culture and fashion. The Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG with Swarovski crystals is not just a beautiful shoe with elevated craftsmanship and materials – it’s a work of art,” Tonia Jones, GM, Jordan Brand Women’s, said of the collaboration.

Harrison, a forward for the Chicago Sky and a Jordan Brand athlete, reflected on her multifaceted experiences across women’s sports.

“I would say my experience navigating women’s sports has been very versatile,” Harrison said. “I’ve seen all different angles of women’s sports – basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming – and have meet so many different women along the way. We share a lot of commonalities and being able to talk with someone who knows what you’re going through makes it easier to navigate this world. I’ve always tried to handle navigating this world with professionalism and grace because that is something my mom instilled in me.”

Speaking about Thursday’s conversation, Harrison told Complex: “I’m truly surprised by tonight. I didn’t think this many people would show up to hear my story and my journey in sports, plus to do it at this location is insane. I really feel appreciated and uplifted. And I feel really beautiful wearing these jewels tonight. Being able to come into the store and represent myself as a basketball player and a Jordan Brand athlete is really special.”

Kolja Kiofsky, General Manager North America at Swarovski, called it a “pleasure” to host the event, adding, “Hearing Izzy share her journey through basketball and her love for fashion was incredibly inspiring. She embodies the perfect intersection of sport and style, and we couldn’t think of a better moment to unveil the new Jordan sneakers with Swarovski crystals. They’re made for those who move with purpose and glow under pressure.”
