The Big Ten announced its 2023-24 all-conference honors Tuesday, a list that included four Indiana players.  

Graduate student forward Mackenzie Holmes and fifth-year senior guard Sara Scalia were both named to the All-Big Ten first team while sophomore guard Yarden Garzon and senior guard Chloe Moore-McNeil earned spots on the honorable mentions and all-defensive teams.  

Holmes led the way for the Hoosiers as one of two conference players to receive unanimous voting by both coaches and media on the list, alongside Iowa senior guard Caitlin Clark. The award marks Holmes’ second consecutive season being selected to the first team, and third of her career.  

Ranking fourth in the conference with 1.5 blocks per game, Holmes also received all-defensive team honors. That defensive acumen is backed by her production on the offensive end of the floor, where she is averaging 20.7 points per game and leads all Division I players with a 67% field goal percentage. 

Joining Holmes is Scalia, who made the All-Big Ten first team for the first time in her five seasons in the conference. The Minnesota transfer has nearly doubled her scoring output in her second season with Indiana, averaging 16.3 points per game. She’s shooting 43.8% from beyond the arc, one of four Hoosier guards shooting 40% or better from the 3-point line this season. 

One of those guards, Moore-McNeil, was named to both the All-Big Ten second team and all-defensive team. The veteran Indiana point guard leads the team in both assists (4.9 per game) and steals (1.3 per game), earning the two honors for the second year in a row. 

Garzon was the final Hoosier to receive postseason honors, earning an honorable mention a season removed from being on the All-Big Ten freshman team. 

With the regular season complete, Indiana sets its sights on the upcoming Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers will hold the No. 3 seed and, with the top four teams receiving a double-bye, automatically advance to Friday’s quarterfinals.  

Indiana will be in action at approximately 9 p.m. ET Friday against either Michigan, Minnesota or Rutgers. The game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
