The Los Angeles Dodgers are usually regarded as the “bully on the block” when it comes to the offseason and spending more than all the other MLB teams. After winning back-to-back World Series titles, all eyes are once again on Los Angeles to see what notable additions they make this winter.

Turns out, after winning two consecutive Fall Classics, the list of things the Dodgers need is pretty short. They have three of the best position players in baseball, the best starting rotation, and several relievers that are already making $50+ million. A new report indicates that Los Angeles might actually be pretty quiet this offseason.

What Will the Los Angeles Dodgers Do This Offseason?

This is probably really good news for the rest of MLB, but the Dodgers are not expected to enter any bidding wars with the top free agents this offseason, according to Bob Nightengale. 

Some of those top free agents that the Dodgers could be interested in are Kyle Tucker, Cody Bellinger, and Edwin Diaz. The only items on the Dodgers’ wishlist include a potential closer and a left-fielder.

Now, this report doesn’t mean that the Dodgers aren’t going to spend at all; it just means they might look for cheaper options to fill their holes. A name that comes to mind is Harrison Bader, if the Phillies are unable to retain him.

MLB’s winter meetings are set to get underway this week, and it will be interesting to see what players pop up in Dodgers rumors. Los Angeles is also reportedly in on Robert Suarez, who would cost significantly less than Edwin Diaz.

Dodgers’ Potential Free Agent and Trade Targets

This report from Nightengale is, of course, all speculative. Andrew Friedman and the rest of the Dodgers front office have been the most savvy group in MLB, and it’s led to three World Series titles since 2020.

Some of the team’s trade targets include outfielders Steven Kwan and Wilyer Abreu. Teoscar Hernandez’s name also came up in potential trade rumors, but that likely won’t gain much traction as there’s no way Los Angeles would think about moving him at this juncture.

Los Angeles has a loaded farm system and could realistically pull off just about any trade they would like.

As far as free agent targets the Dodgers may pursue, adding guys like Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger might be too expensive, even for the Dodgers. Low-cost outfield options include Harrison Bader, Mike Tauchman, and Adolis Garcia.

But as far as MLB is concerned, it’s probably best that Los Angeles doesn’t hog all the big players.
