💥 BREAKING NEWS: Mackenzie Holmes hears her name called as the Seattle Storm grab the Indiana standout in the third round of the WNBA Draft ⚡.mt

Indiana women’s basketball alum Mackenzie Holmes was selected by the Seattle Storm at No. 26 overall in the third round of Monday’s WNBA Draft.

Holmes announced last week that she’s undergoing knee surgery to address long-term issues she’s fought through with her left knee, and the procedure will keep her out for the entire 2024 WNBA season. She said in her statement that she will be ready for training camp in 2025.

This is the third straight year an IU player has been selected in the WNBA Draft. Ali Patberg was picked by the Indiana Fever in the third round in 2022, and Grace Berger was taken by the Fever in the first round last season.

Holmes became Indiana’s all-time leading scorer this past season, and she finished with 2,530 career points. The three-time All-American is also the program’s winningest player, and played a huge role in IU’s three Sweet 16 appearances in the last four years.
