Jose Berrios opens up about injuries and current situation
During a recent interview, Berrios spoke to the media about his injury that kept him out of the lineup at the end of last season to which he stated that he is in his fifth week of throwing in his recovery process.
«I am in the fifth week (of throwing) already,» -Berrios
Berrios admitted that he was battling a bicep and elbow injury all season long which at the end of the season he simply could not play through anymore.
«I was battling all year long with my elbow, my bicep,» Berrios said of the ailment. «But the way my team was competing out there, I was trying to stay out there and go out and compete every five days with them.” -Berrios
When asked about his future after a strange time during the World Series and not being with the Blue Jays, Berrios avoided the question just stating that his next goal is to pitch for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
«I have that in my mind,» Berrios said. «I want to pitch in the WBC again. That’s my goal right now. First of all, to get to spring training healthy and strong and then would love to get ready for the WBC.
«It’s proud for us to play for our country and for our island.» -Berrios
While Berrios is still recovering from his injury, he did state that his goal is to get back on the mound in time for Spring Training.
