The New York Mets apparently have some discontent.

News emerged recently from the New York Post that Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor have had moments where they simply don’t get along and have instead feuded.

In the context of a Mets team that collapsed down the stretch of the 2025 season, that’s not ideal.

It could lead to McNeil being traded this offseason.

The Mets have already made one trade, sending out Brandon Nimmo to bring in Marcus Semien.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand writes that McNeil could be next.

“The acquisition of Semien secured the Mets’ second base position, and they’re believed to be pursuing one of the top outfielders on the market, which would relegate McNeil to a super-utility role, one that could be filled by the much more inexpensive Luisangel Acuña,” Feinstands writes. “McNeil is in the final year of his four-year, $50 million extension, though his contract also has a $15.75 million club option for 2027 with a $2 million buyout.”

Essentially, McNeil is only under club control for this season, unless his club option is exercised, which seems unlikely for an aging contact hitter.

Would he be worth a ton in a trade? Probably not.

But it might be best for the Mets to move him, some potential addition by subtraction.

Don’t be surprised if McNeil’s name remains in rumors until he is moved.
